M.J.

Since today is Michael Jackson's funeral I thought my blog should be about him. He was the King of Pop. He was absolutely one of the most talented musicians!I have dozens of fun memories of his music. He was apart of my growing up. But sadly fame had destroyed him. He was always in search of something to fill his life. Unfortunately I don't believe he ever found fullfillment. The only way to find fullfillment is in Jesus Christ. Now i can't say for sure if Michael knew Christ. But his life definitely didn't reflect Christ. So today at the funeral with millions watching what a trajedy it would be to not take the opportunity to share Christ. I am sure it won't be done. So I will share here with one verse. Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord". We have all sinned and deserve death. But God loved us so much that He sent His only son Jesus to die on a cross to pay the penalty of our sin. He was buried and was raised on the 3rd day (demonstrating God's victory over death). And because of this sacrifice we can have a right relationship with God and now have a hope and future. A future in that when we die we will spend eternity with Him! But also that we can enjoy freedom in this life. A freedom from the guilt of sin. Not a free pass to sin, but the assurance that our sins are forgiven!

  1. Very well said. I don't want to imagine the plastic man melting, but I guess he will ;-)

  2. Michael Jackson was a lifelong Jehovah's Witness and spoke about Jesus on many occasions. Judging Micheal Jackson's soul on the day of his funeral and determining whether his life didn't "reflect" Christ is tacky, Beth. In fact, to millions of people...Michael Jackson exemplified Christ-like behavior far more then any John Mark Harris ever did. Who are you John to be able to "imagine"..."but...guess" that a father, brother and son is melting in your version of hell with a smiley-face emoticon in exclamation?

    Wow! This blog sucks.

  3. Let me clear up this misunderstanding.

In 1982 Jackson released the much praised "Thriller" album. Soon after, the Watchtower Society (the official organization known as "Jehovah's Witness")denounced this album. As a result, in 1987 Michael Jackson publicly announced that though his parents were Jehovah's Witnesses he was not.

Jackson's brother Jermaine Jackson converted to become a Muslim in 1989 and according to public statements Michael took great interest Islam at that time. He even considered converting to Islam himself following his acquittal on child abuse charges in 2005.

Later in 2005 Jackson was seen observing rituals from the cult of Jewish Mysticism known as "Kabbalah" that Madona made so popular.

Not only has Michael Jackson demonstrated that he was lost and searching for the truth, he never made a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ.

Acts 4:12 "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Hell is real, and this is a great opportunity to show that no matter how good or nice you are, you still spend eternity separated from God if you do not accept God's gift of His Son. His name is Jesus, and the first commandment still apples: Ex. 20:3 ""You shall have no other gods before me."

So objectively speaking, Michael Jackson is in hell. I'm not happy about it, but it was his choice. I also am a huge fan of his music from the 80s & 90s, but me liking someone's music has nothing to do with their relationship with God.

I pray others will spend less time accumulating idols for themselves, and more time praising the King of Kings.
